In addition to teaching, she also embarked on an entrepreneurial endeavor in 2021 by founding a confectionery company called Better Buttermint Co.
She then ran unsuccessfully for the Blaine School Board in 2019. However, this was not the final time that Tana Perkins Reneau ran for a board seat.
She declared her candidacy for an open seat in the second district of the Blaine School Board on May 19, 2023. She was scheduled to compete in the August 2023 primary election against Ben Lazarus and Dean Berkeley.
On June 2, 2023, however, she was arrested by Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies and her plan failed.
Tana Perkins Reneau was charged with possession of drugs and four counts of child sexual conduct, including three allegations of child rape. If proven guilty, she could face a life sentence in prison.
In the meantime, nothing is known about Tana Perkins Reneau’s husband’s response to his wife’s allegations, and some believe he may even be implicated in the case. However, nothing is established until it is proven.
